Museum Admission
Museum admission offers self-guided access to all exhibitions and the historic Turnblad Mansion. Admission is free for ASI members.
Ticketed Events
Select events and festivals, including the Julmarknad Handcraft Market and Midsommar Celebration, require advance registration and have special pricing. Explore ASI’s programs to learn more or view all ticketed events on the Events Calendar.
Same-day tickets and tickets during exhibition installation periods are walk-up sales only.
The Museum, Café and Museum Store are closed New Years Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
Free Thursdays from 3–8 pm, explore the exhibition galleries and Turnblad Mansion with free admission.

Free parking is available in ASI’s lot at 27th Street and Park Avenue. View parking and directions.
Walk-up and advanced tickets are available for admission to the museum and the Turnblad Mansion. Same-day tickets are walk-up only.
Admission is not required to shop in the Museum Store or eat at FIKA Café. To reserve museum admission tickets, visit the tickets page or call 612-871-4907.
Food and beverages are not allowed in the Turnblad Mansion or exhibition galleries.
FIKA Café does not take reservations.
Restrooms are located on Level 1 of the Nelson Cultural Center near FIKA Café, on the Lower Level of the Turnblad Mansion, and on Level 2 of the Nelson Cultural Center directly above FIKA Café.
Family/all-gender restrooms and changing stations are located on the Lower Level of the Turnblad Mansion and Level 1 of the Nelson Cultural Center near FIKA Café. All are welcome to use the restroom of their choice.
Coat racks and lockers are available free of charge on Level 1 of the Nelson Cultural Center. Keys may be checked out at ASI’s Front Desk. Lockers and hangers fill quickly. ASI cannot store luggage during a visit.
Elevators in the Nelson Cultural Center and the Turnblad Mansion make ASI’s campus wheelchair friendly. Transport wheelchairs are available for complimentary use and may be checked out at ASI’s Front Desk. Wheelchairs may not be reserved in advance.

Visitors are welcome to nurse their child wherever it is most comfortable. There is a Quiet Room on the Lower Level of the Turnblad Mansion for those looking for privacy or a place to rest.
It depends! Photography is encouraged for social media or personal use (no flash, please!). Commissioned photography or formal portraits, including engagement photos, senior pictures, and family portraits, must be scheduled in advance and require payment of a space use fee.

Yes! Admission is required to enter the Turnblad Mansion. Please be aware of other visitors—do not block pathways or viewing points. Please bring your own lapboard or clipboard and use only lead or colored pencils. Do not use walls, pedestals, or floors as supports for sketching.
The Holiday Exhibition typically opens mid-November.

To receive the benefits of any of the listed Museum Admission Access programs, please call to reserve admission tickets. These discounts and benefits are not available online.
This program allows free admission to visitors who identify as Indigenous. The program represents ASI’s authentic efforts to engage communities underserved and uplift Indigenous voices and experiences.
Indigenous community members interested in participating can request this program on arrival at the Visitor Services desk or email info@asimn.org.
ASI offers free museum admission to US military employees, veterans, and their families as part of the collaboration between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums across America.
Museums for All is a national access program that encourages individuals of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum habits. This program provides free admission to qualifying individuals and their dependents during regular ASI hours. Special programs and events are not included. Ask for free Museums for All admission when you visit ASI.
To qualify for Museums for All, you must be enrolled in one of the programs listed below:

Free/Reduced Price School Meals
ASI offers free admission to adults and youth who require assistance to experience the museum. These individuals do not need to pay to bring their Personal Care Assistant, interpreter, or other caregivers.
Reciprocal Organization of Associated Museums (ROAM) offers free admission to one visitor who is a member of any participating museum. Check your membership card, those that qualify should be marked with a ROAM sticker or logo.
This arts access program is available exclusively to Twin Cities public library users. Anyone with a library card from one of the eight public library systems in the Twin Cities can find opportunities to reserve free and/or discounted admission to a wide range of arts experiences. ASI offers free admission to the museum during select exhibits or discounts to programs.
