Accessibility
Some in-person workshops require additional fees for equipment and materials used; fees are payable by cash or check to the instructor at the beginning of class.
ASI uses Zoom to conduct most of its virtual programs. You do not need a Zoom account to participate in virtual programs.
ASI will email you the link to your program the day before it is scheduled. If you have not received this information and it is a few hours before your program starts, please email [email protected] or call 612-871-490.
ASI records a number of its virtual programs for the benefit of ASI and program participants.
For information on operating Zoom, please visit the Zoom website.
Some virtual programs may use kits. Kits will include some or all of the materials students need to make their project at home.
The cost of a kit will be included in the course fee.
Kits are available for pick up at the American Swedish Institute approximately one week before class or can be shipped for an additional $5 fee; students will be contacted with specific instructions by ASI staff.
Registration for workshops with kits closes one week in advance of the program date.
ASI may close and cancel programs in the case of severe weather. ASI contacts program registrants directly via email or phone in case of weather closures, and closure information is posted on our website and social media accounts.
In the case that ASI remains open for programming during inclement weather, absent registrants are not eligible for refunds.
The majority of ASI’s programs and events are suitable for all ages.
Unless otherwise noted, adult Nordic Table Foodways Classes and Nordic Handcraft Workshops workshops are open to ages 16 and older.
Youth & Family Programs are designed for specific age groups. A youth registrant must meet the age requirement at the time of the course.
Some intergenerational workshops may be open to younger registrants alongside registered adults. Please review the program’s individual description for more information.
In ASI programs, no individual or group will be discriminated against because of race, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, or disability.
