With its historic Turnblad Mansion, contemporary Nelson Cultural Center, and gorgeous courtyard, the American Swedish Institute is one of the Twin Cities’ most beautiful and romantic wedding venues and one of the few wedding venues in the metro with an outdoor space.

From ceremonies in the courtyard to ‘fairytale’ cocktails in the castle to sleek modern events, ASI’s flexible venue options and award-winning on-site catering are perfect for weddings of any style, transitioning beautifully from a romantic ceremony site to a memorable dinner or party venue.

Minneapolis’ premier venue for rehearsal dinners, ceremonies and receptions features a number of locations throughout its campus to make your dream event a reality.

    Turnblad Mansion

    Built in 1908 and on the national register of historic places, the Turnblad Mansion is Minneapolis’s only ‘castle’ and the perfect venue for intimate and unforgettable ceremonies and receptions.

    Capacity: 60 standing ceremony, 12 seated ceremony, 150 reception.

    Larson Hall

    The clean, Nordic design of ASI’s largest single-room venue is a blank canvas to unleash your creativity and vision.

    Capacity: 250 plated, 300 lecture, 400 reception.

    Nelson Cultural Center

    Capacity: 700 reception across two floors.

    Classic truly meets contemporary in ASI’s courtyard, a flexible outdoor space for ceremonies, parties, and receptions nestled between the Turnblad Mansion and Nelson Cultural Center.

    Wedding FAQs

    All of ASI’s spaces are unique and can be used both individually or combined for larger events. ASI has hosted events for up to 500 guests.

    Our largest single indoor event space has capacity for 250 seated guests. We can host up to 250 guests in a single outdoor event space with full use of the courtyard offering space for a reception of 500+ guests.

     

    ASI has experience hosting a wide range of receptions, ceremonies, parties and events. We have full capabilities for large-scale occasions, and also offer special Microwedding packages.

    ASI is fully-equipped for multi-media presentations in a number of our venues, with HD video projection, live-streaming capability, HD multi-channel audio, and more.

    We advise but do not require wedding coordinators.

    Rental guests receive complimentary use of ASI’s flat lot with more than 130 spaces.

    Additional parking is available on surrounding streets.

    ASI has an on-site caterer, Slate & Stone. Slate & Stone has a full liquor license and is certified for on-site food service.

    Included in any rental of an ASI:

    • Patio furniture, café and twinkle lights for outdoor use
    • Security
    • Exclusive photo access inside the historic Turnblad Mansion.

    ASI also provides green rooms for bridal parties prior to a ceremony.

    Yes. Our Microwedding packages are up to 25 people and include special pricing options, custom menu, and various venue options.
