Visit / Family Visits

All ages are welcome!

Families with children of all ages are welcome at ASI to learn through play, explore interactive gallery space, and take part in handcraft, food, language, and cultural programs.

Family Amenities

Strollers are welcome at ASI and may be taken into all but select exhibitions. Umbrella strollers may be checked out at the Front Desk for on-campus use. Oversized strollers, including jogging strollers and side-by-side strollers, must be left outside of the Turnblad Mansion.

Family / all-gender restrooms and changing stations are located at the Lower Level of the Turnblad Mansion and on Level 1 of Nelson Cultural Center near the FIKA Café. All are welcome to use the restroom of their choice.

Visitors are welcome to nurse their child wherever they are most comfortable. A Quiet Room is located on the Lower Level of the Turnblad Mansion for those looking for privacy or a comfortable place to rest.

ASI offers an outdoor playcart April–October (weather permitting) which features toys, tools, and surprises, for young visitors as they explore ASI’s fenced outdoor Courtyard.

ASI’s Family Gallery encourages the youngest visitors to play, touch, read, and learn. The Family Gallery exhibition rotates annually.

Not every house has a Tomte, but the Turnblad Mansion does! Write a letter to Tomte and drop it in his mailbox located in the turret on Level 3 of the Turnblad Mansion.
