MINNEAPOLIS — The American Swedish Institute (ASI) has elected six new members to its Board of Trustees: Dr. Elizabeth Adams, Allison Barmann, Katelin Richter Davis, Christina Magnson Goetz, Chick Lane, and Karin Stone. The elections were confirmed during ASI’s Annual Membership Meeting on May 7, 2026.
ASI trustees serve three-year terms and contribute leadership, expertise, and cultural perspective to further ASI’s mission and programs.
Newly elected trustees:
Elizabeth Adams is a part-time faculty Director of the Applied Business program at the University of Minnesota’s College of Continuing & Professional Studies. A fifth-generation Minnesotan, she has spent more than a decade advising organizations across sectors on responsible AI design and development.
Allison Barmann has spent her career working at the intersection of business and social impact, and recently founded Barmann Strategic, a consulting firm serving the impact sector.
Katelin Richter Davis is a strategist and fundraiser with 15+ years of experience leading revenue growth and organizational strategy across the nonprofit, public, and private sectors. As founder of KRD, LLC, she brings a cross-sector perspective to help mission-driven teams turn vision into impact.
Christina Magnuson Goetz is Vice President of Talent at APi Group, bringing more than 20 years of human resources leadership experience across the MedTech and business services industries.
Chick Lane is a retired pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Chick and his wife Chris are Life Members of ASI, and both volunteer as Mansion Facilitators and Tour Guides.
Karin Stone is Principal of Stone Strategy Group LLC, where she advises organizations on marketing, strategy, and change management. Karin’s experience spans technology, new ventures, and marketing, including service as chief marketing officer, and always with a focus on building teams and leading innovation.
Board Officers for 2026–2027 were also confirmed:
Reelected trustees: ASI reappointed three trustees to second three-year terms: Marcia Anderson, Elodie Lee, and Sara Stenberg.
Departing trustees: ASI extends its deepest gratitude for the service and stewardship of its departing trustees: Carline Bengtsson, Brenda Butler, David Sorensen, Andrea Oseland, and Marco Molinari.
New board members’ bios:
Dr. Elizabeth M. Adams is a Responsible Al strategist, educator, and author whose work examines the relationship between technology, culture, and human values. A fifth-generation Minnesotan, she has spent more than a decade advising organizations across sectors on responsible Al design and development, with a broader focus on helping leaders consider purpose, long-term impact, and how individuals and communities can thrive alongside emerging technologies. Her doctoral work in employee stakeholder engagement led to the founding of the Minnesota Responsible Al Institute, advancing workforce development, sustainability, and positive long-term societal outcomes. She currently serves part-time as Faculty Director of the Applied Business program at the University of Minnesota’s College of Continuing & Professional Studies, where she oversees program development and contributes to Al-infused curriculum design. Dr. Adams is the author of In the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Choosing Purpose Before Code. Through her academic, professional, and public work, she supports cross-sector dialogue that encourages thoughtful, human-centered approaches to technological change. She has a continuing relationship as a visiting researcher at Umeå University in Sweden.
Allison Barmann has spent her career working at the intersection of business and social impact. She recently founded Barmann Strategic, a consulting firm serving the impact sector, and serves as Executive Director of the Christenson Family Foundation. Previously, she served as Executive Director of Genesys Works Twin Cities, leading the nonprofit in its mission to help youth from underserved communities achieve career success. Before that, she was Vice President of Strategy & Learning at the Bush Foundation, overseeing grantmaking in education, Native nation building, and social business. Earlier in her career, she was a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company and directed the Itasca Project, a CEO-led civic alliance focused on improving economic competitiveness in the Minneapolis-St. Paul region. She also worked at a technology startup in San Francisco and as a Plant Engineer at 3M. Allison holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, where she was an All-American gymnast. Outside of work, Allison loves to bike and ski with her husband and three children. She has completed 13 WorldLoppet cross-country ski events and biked across several states. She enjoys long walks with her two dogs and is a devoted member of two book clubs.
Katelin Richter Davis is a strategist and fundraiser with 15+ years of experience leading revenue growth and organizational strategy across the nonprofit, public, and private sectors. As founder of KRD, LLC, she brings a cross-sector perspective to help mission-driven teams turn vision into impact. Before KRD, LLC, Katelin led revenue programs for Minnesota Public Radio | American Public Media and The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. Her earlier career includes strategy and operations consulting at Deloitte and the DeVos Institute of Arts Management (formerly of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts). She also served as chair of the parish council at The Basilica of Saint Mary. A Fulbright Scholar to Germany, Katelin holds degrees in oboe performance, German, and economics from Lawrence University. Her connection to the American Swedish Institute is both professional and personal: her great-great-grandparents, Franz Theodore Lindman and Amanda Sophia Catrina Petersson, immigrated to Minneapolis from Norrköping and Oskarshamn, Sweden. Katelin lives in Minneapolis with her husband David, newly named Minnesota Teacher of the Year, and their cat Meowzart.
Christina Magnuson Goetz is Vice President of Talent at APi Group, bringing more than 20 years of human resources leadership experience across the MedTech and business services industries. She joined APi Group in 2023 and leads enterprise talent strategies that advance the company’s purpose of Building Great Leaders®, including succession planning, engagement, performance management, talent acquisition, and leadership development to strengthen culture and drive long performance. Previously, Christina served as Global Human Resources Director at Abbott, partnering across business units to shape talent strategy, organizational design, and workforce planning initiatives. She spent more than a decade at Medtronic in progressive HR leadership roles spanning employee relations, talent management, and organizational development. Christina’s connection to the American Swedish Institute (ASI) is both personal and longstanding. Inspired by her grandparents, longtime ASI supporters Richard and Finette Magnuson, she continues that legacy through active involvement and advocacy for ASI’s mission. Chrstina holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and business and a Master of Education in Training and Development from the University of Minnesota. She lives in Independence, Minnesota with her husband and four children.
Chick Lane is a retired pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He is a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. He served congregations in Pennsylvania and Minnesota, was Assistant to the Bishop in Northwestern Minnesota Synod, Director for Stewardship Key Leader in the national church organization, and Director of the Center for Stewardship Leaders at Luther Seminary in St. Paul. He is the author of three books on stewardship in congregations. Chick and his wife Chris are Life Members of ASI. He is a Mansion Facilitator and Tour Guide. Most Friday mornings find the Lanes welcoming guests to the Turnblad mansion. He is also the author of an article “The Turnblads and their Mansion,” published in the July 2023 issue of The Swedish-American Historical Quarterly. The Lanes live in Maple Grove. In addition to his volunteering at the American Swedish Institute, Chick volunteers in several ways at Lord of Life Lutheran Church and at CROSS Services, a food shelf in the northwest metro. When the Lanes aren’t at ASI on a Friday, they are probably travelling. The Nordic countries are their favorite destinations.
Karin Stone is Principal of Stone Strategy Group LLC, where she advises organizations on marketing, strategy, and change management. She currently serves as a senior consultant with Pinnacle Performance Group, partnering with clients to guide them through change and organizational transformation. Her prior consulting engagements include work with Värde Partners, BD&E, and Gustavus Adolphus College. Karin spent most of her corporate career in financial services, holding leadership roles at IDS (now Ameriprise), American Express, Ford Credit, and National City Bank. Her experience spans technology, new ventures, and marketing, including service as chief marketing officer, and always with a focus on building teams and leading innovation. Her career took her from Minnesota to New York City, Detroit, San Diego, and Cleveland, before returning home. While in Cleveland, she also worked in higher education, leading Institutional Advancement for the Cleveland Institute of Music, and served on several nonprofit boards in the arts and culture sector. Since returning to Minnesota, Karin has served on the Minnesota Judicial Selection Commission. Her passion for Swedish culture comes from her family heritage and her strong ties to her alma mater, Gustavus including service as a class agent, on the Alumni Board, and as a trustee.
