Remember When: ASI’s Annual Holiday Experience

One of the Midwest’s most anticipated seasonal experiences returns November 7th as ASI opens Remember When, the annual holiday experience.

Remember when….grandpa dressed up as Santa Claus? Having to wait until your parents brewed coffee before you could tear into the pile of presents under the tree? The house smelled like freshly baked bread, a delicious roast, and cookies for days on end? You sneakily unwrapped all the presents and taped them back up again?

Holiday magic comes from within. It’s memories of the past combined with the shared experiences you’re creating and living here and now. The American Swedish Institute’s holiday experience invites visitors to celebrate together by reliving cherished holiday memories through classic moments captured throughout the Turnblad Mansion. In each spectacularly decorated space, visitors can remember holidays from decades gone by, find comfort in the past, and carry that joy and excitement into today’s holiday season.

A visit to ASI over the holiday season provides a glimpse into the past to inspire visitors to embrace what makes the holidays so special: family, friends, community, tradition, and being together. The Turnblad Mansion transforms into a series of holiday moments shared across space and time. Remember childhood holidays, glimpse further back to see what parents and grandparents may have experienced and find inspiration for making the holiday season truly magical.

ASI is the Twin Cities’ premier holiday destination for all visitors to truly feel the holiday spirit. Discover handmade gifts from local artists at Julmarknad on December 3-6, one of the region’s largest handcraft markets with over 60 vendors, live music, festive foods, and activities for all ages. Celebrate the longest day of the year on December 18 with outdoor fires, glögg, and a reindeer sighting at the Twin Cities’ largest Winter Solstice Celebration. Dare friends to try lutfisk at a Lutfisk Dinner on November 15 and enjoy the magic and candlelight of the Lucia Celebration Concert on December 12.

ASI’s winter programs create a full season of craft workshops, cooking classes, food demos, and language classes to inspire new skills and create the perfect gifts. The ASI Museum Store’s Jul Shop, open from November 7 to January 4, features a curated selection of handmade and imported items, with a special Member Appreciation Sale during the first opening week. Visit FIKA Café for an exceptional holiday menu featuring seasonal flavors, alongside its famous meatballs, specialty cookies, and remarkable baked goods.

Create magical holiday memories with family and friends this season at ASI’s 76th annual holiday experience.
