In our continued efforts to provide a safe and healthy environment for the staff, volunteers and visitors of ASI, we are adopting and instituting a vaccination policy to help maintain a safe environment for all. In response to the growing number of COVID-19 cases, the rapid spread of the virus and variants, as well as the potential risks to those exposed to the virus, ASI has updated its COVID-19 vaccination and masking policies.
Before arriving at ASI, individuals should self-check for COVID-19 symptoms.
ASI will require all visitors, staff, and volunteers to wear face coverings while indoors regardless of vaccination status.
Comply with social distancing between individual and groups not visiting together.
Masks may be temporarily removed while eating or drinking, but must be repositioned while not eating or drinking.
All in-person workshop and class registrants must be vaccinated.
All staff, volunteers, teachers, and contracted performers must be vaccinated.
Masking indoors will be required by all regardless of vaccination status.
Masking outdoors optional (ASI may require masking if a safe distance between participants cannot be kept).
Full refunds will be made if you wish to cancel your program registration. Please call 612-871-4907 or email [email protected]

Youth and family adult participants must be vaccinated.
Youth 3 and over, masking is required.
ASI and Slate&Stone require all event guests, staff, and contractors to wear face coverings while indoors regardless of vaccination status.
Guests are required to comply with social distancing between individuals and groups not in a household or other isolated cohort.
Masks are optional for outside events, but are encouraged when individuals are spaced closely together.
Participants may be required to sign an acknowledgement of these policies and agree to comply.
These requirements and policies are subject to change. Updates will be posted on ASI’s website.
Face coverings are now required while indoors, regardless of vaccination status. The reinstatement of mask wearing is to create a safe environment for all who come to ASI during a time when COVID cases are increasing in our community. Masks are optional outdoors.
Visitors are encouraged to use hand sanitizer stations throughout ASI’s campus.
Walk-up visitors are welcome. Guests may still register for museum admission in advance if preferred.
ASI is committed to providing a clean and safe experience for all and provides hand sanitizer throughout the buildings. ASI frequently cleans and disinfects all spaces—especially high-traffic areas. The historic surfaces throughout the Turnblad Mansion, because they do not tolerate harsh cleaning products, are regularly dusted and cleaned with soap and water.
ASI uses an advanced air–regulation system connected to its geothermal heating and cooling. Air filters have been upgraded and are frequently replaced. Portable HEPA filters are also placed throughout the Turnblad Mansion where modern ventilation systems may not present.
ASI advises that all visitors, staff and volunteers be vaccinated against COVID-19. Visitors are also asked to assess their health before arriving and stay home if feeling ill.
All visitors to the Museum need to stop by the front desk and check in. Fika diners can check in at the restaurant counter. Reservations are not available or required.
Please give priority for the elevators to those with mobility needs. Stairs are available for those who wish to use them.
The ASI Museum Store now has an online component for your shopping convenience. Browse 24/7 from wherever you are! Click here to check it out.
While increased vaccinations have made going to public places safer, a visit to a public space, including a museum, still includes an inherent risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus.
ASI employees contribute to creating a clean, safe, enjoyable museum environment.

While we are transitioning with the new developments, many staff are still working from home or on staggered in-person shifts.
