About ASI / Instructors / Sven Sjöstedt

Sven Sjöstedt

Sven was born in Örebro, Sweden. He worked for the Swedish State Railroad  in various places and functions. While stationed in Uppsala he met and married an American exchange student. In 1983 she wanted to move “home” and thus they emigrated to the US. They settled in St. Paul, Minnesota and became active in Swedish-America right away. Sven worked for Target Corporation’s Logistic department until retirement 2010. His wife Chris became the regional editor for the Swedish-American national weekly newspaper Nordstjernan/Svea and thus they covered all events in the area where something “Swedish” happened. Sven also wrote a  weekly column in Swedish in the paper. They were volunteers at ASI, board members in Svenska Kulturförbundet, and active at the Karl Oskar House in Lindström. After Chris died way too early 2016, Sven has continued and even increased his engagement in Swedish-America. In his spare time, he……oops, he has no spare time.
