Derek Nicholas

Derek Nicholas also known as Niigaanibines (Red Cliff Band Ojibwe) has been working within the food systems in many critical ways, including but not limited to work around food security and sovereignty, sustainable food and water projects, cultural education, and youth engagement. Furthermore, Derek is the founder of Wiisinig LLC, an educational platform that focuses on revitalizing indigenous food systems amongst tribal communities. Additionally, he is the author of Through Food We Know Ourselves Eating with the Seasons, Anishinaabeg, Great Lakes Region.
