About ASI / Instructors / Beth Homa Kraus

Beth Homa Kraus

Beth Homa is a weaver, woodworker, and artist in south Minneapolis. After studying painting in college and working as a caseworker for people experiencing homelessness, they interned at North House Folk School in 2012 where Beth learned many traditional crafts including boat building, but mostly different styles of basketry. Beth says they contracted “weaver fever” which sparked an obsession with birch bark, which is now their main medium. Beth sustainably harvests and processes materials by hand and is always trying to figure out what they can make out of birch bark next and how to share this durable and beautiful material with everyone.
