About ASI / Instructors / Alexander Fooy

Alexander Fooy

Alexander Fooy (he/him) grew up in a household that is equal parts Swedish and American in Brooklyn, NY. He moved to the Twin Cities in 2022, partially to earn a B.A. in political science and Scandinavian & Finnish Studies at the University of Minnesota, and partially to learn more about the unique Swedish-American culture of the Upper Midwest. Since moving, he has enjoyed taking in the many walking trails in the area, going to games at Target Field, and reading books about American political history. He credits his passion for the Swedish language to his father, who hails from the Stockholm area and always stressed the importance of speaking Swedish at home and maintaining connections across the Atlantic.
