This program is sold out. Please call 612-871-4907 to be added to a waitlist.

This class meets over 10 Wednesdays, 7–9 pm, March 20-May 29, with one week off in April.

Build your spoon carving skills in this 10-week course with master woodworker Paul Linden. This class uses spoons and other small projects to explore intermediate and advanced techniques of woodworking in the spirit of slöjd, the Swedish handcraft tradition of creating beautiful and functional objects. Students with existing green wood carving experience will build skills with traditional hand tools and green wood, and also cover tool maintenance/sharpening, acquiring materials, and design and embellishment.

This class is suitable for students who have already done some spoon carving (e.g. carved at least 12 spoons) and are looking to increase their skills. Students are working in green wood in this class and must have good hand strength and flexibility to be successful with the materials. A $50 materials fee paid to the instructor the first week covers all tools and materials for the entire course.
