Moomin Inspired Felted Seat Cozy

Join felting instructor Elise Kyllo to create a unique felted seat cozy. This project will teach two felting techniques inspired by Tove Jansson’s Moomin illustrations: needle felting designs and wet felting.

You will learn how to add structure and create a durable and functional object. Students can choose to incorporate the colorful natural environments and patterns of Jansson’s Moomin Valley in their design or focus on recreating the delightful characters from the Moomin stories. The flat felted seat cozy is perfect for use both indoors and outdoors.

It is recommended that students have good hand strength and the ability to stand for extended periods. The workshop is suitable for ages 18 and above, or registrants ages 9-17 accompanied by a registered adult. A $35 materials fee is payable to the instructor in class and covers all materials needed for this project. Students are also encouraged to bring 2–3 old bath towels, a bag to take home wet projects in, and an apron.
