Instructor Harley Refsal holds the title Professor Emeritus in Scandinavian Folk Art at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He is a widely known woodcarver, perhaps best known for his Scandinavian-style figures. He began teaching carving courses in 1983, and has exhibited and taught throughout North America as well in Sweden, Norway and Iceland. He has taught, and served as guest curator of figure carving exhibits at ASI on several occasions.
