Midsommar Feast

Practice preparing a Midsommar feast inspired by the fresh, simple foods common on the holiday smörgåsbord! One of the major holidays in the Swedish calendar, Midsommar is observed every year over the weekend closest to the summer solstice, and kicks off the brief Swedish summer with good food and time outdoors with friends and family. As a group, this class will practice preparing a variety of classic Swedish dishes, including pickles, rye crackers, egg pie, and of course a strawberry cream cake. Weather permitting we’ll enjoy our meal outdoors as a way to kick off the summer. Throughout class instructor Anna Sharratt will share lots of tips for the home cook and lead class discussions on ways to incorporate Midsommar into our own traditions.

After preparing these dishes you’ll have a new repertoire of summery favorites to pull out for all kinds of meals, or to combine into a fabulous Midsommar feast of your own! This is a participatory workshop so come ready to share in the fun. This menu includes gluten, dairy and seafood; please notify ASI of dietary restrictions in advance. Suitable for ages 18+, or 14–17 registered alongside an accompanying adult.
