This program is sold out. Please call 612-871-4907 to be added to a waitlist.

Foxes are an important character in northern forests around the world – spend an afternoon bringing one to life in this afternoon long carving class! Students will carve and paint their own fox while getting an introduction to woodcarving in the Scandinavian flat-plane tradition from instructor Matt Bruch. The course is ideal for beginners and especially encouraged for adults and youth ages 11–14 to take together. Over four hours, students will transform a simple basswood block into a carved and painted fox filled with personality. We will practice several knife grips to safely and effectively shape the wood and also learn techniques for applying paint and a wax finish. Please note, this style of woodcarving requires average hand strength and dexterity. Suitable for students ages 11–14 attending alongside a registered adult, or 15+.

A $10 materials fee is due to the instructor in class to cover all materials; students are encouraged to bring their own carving knife and safety glove, or they may borrow a set from ASI.
