About ASI / Instructors / Wendy J. Johnson

Wendy J. Johnson

Wendy J. Johnson has a B.A. in Fine Arts, has been a spinner, dyer, knitter, and weaver for most of her life, and has been teaching spinning and knitting for over 25 years. Her Swedish heritage, from provinces heavily involved in flax and linen production, significantly influences her life’s work, and this love of Swedish “hemslöjd” is something she likes to share with others. She is the author of “Yarn Works: How to spin, dye, and knit your own yarn” (published by Quarto/Cpi), with published patterns in several other books. Wendy is a professional dyer and, through her fiber arts business, Saga Hill Studio, has created a custom colorway of dyes for protein fibers (the Lake Minnetonka Colorway). If forced to choose, silk and flax/linen are her favorite fibers. Wendy is a 2022–23 ASI Teaching Tools Grant teaching artisan. Discover more about Wendy at her website, SagaHill.com or follow her on social media @sagahill
