Carve a Swedish Wall Hook

Put your knife to work carving useful Swedish-style wall hooks in this half-day class! Alongside woodworking instructor Maeve Gathje, students will practice carving in the traditional Scandinavian green wood style. Using fresh-cut branched wood, students will follow the natural shape of the branch and use a knife to shape it into a useful hook. Choose to leave the bark on for a rustic look perfect for a cabin, or take the bark off for a smooth and natural surface. Decoration and finishing, such as detail carving, paint, or other finishes will be discussed and demonstrated if time allows. Whatever shape and size you make, this hook will be a practical addition to your home!

A $15 materials fee paid to the instructor covers all tools and materials. This class is open to students with no previous experience or is a good follow-up to ASI’s Green Woodcarving 101/Intro to Green Woodcarving courses. Students need good hand strength and flexibility; suitable for ages 16+.
