SUMMARY:Design and Weave a Repp Band Workshop with Kerstin Neumuller
DESCRIPTION:This course is online and will take place over two days\, Sat\, September 12\, and Sun\, September 13\, from 10 am-12 pm Central Time both sessions. \n\nJoin Swedish textile artist and educator Kerstin Neumüller for two online sessions to design and start weaving a repp band on a small rigid heddle-style band weaving loom. The first session will focus on creating different patterns in woven repp bands\, a style in which warp threads tightly cover the weft threads. Kerstin will share various possible patterns\, providing students with a starting point for designing their band. Students will then use any small rigid heddle-style loom they have on hand and their yarn to prepare the warp and weft for weaving a repp band in the second class. \nThis Virtual class is an excellent option for students needing a refresher on band weaving or anyone who owns Kerstin’s book\, Simple Weave\, but wants to work alongside her live. A wide-ranging discussion of project options\, including small looms\, materials\, and tips for weaving bands\, will take place during work time. \nAdditional information: \n\nThis class has some homework between the two sessions.\nAdvanced registration required.\nMaterials: Students provide their own materials for this virtual class; please see the full materials list here.\n\n  \nPrerequisites: \n\nSkill level: Open to all skill levels\nAges: Suitable for ages 12+. Kanelbullar are a staple treat for a Swedish fika or coffee break and usually feature a cinnamon filling\, cardamom scented sweet dough\, and pearl sugar on top. But Kristi Bissell of the Nordic-inspired food blog True North Kitchen is ready to share not only her favorite cinnamon roll dough\, but two fun new ways to put it to use: cute gifflar (mini crescent buns) and entertaining-worthy apple filled slices. After this demonstration\, students will be ready to knead\, shape\, and bake their own buns just in time for Cinnamon Bun Day on October 4! \nAdditional information:\nAdvanced registration required. \nVirtual class requirements: This is a live virtual class taught over Zoom. Students need a strong internet connection and a device with video capabilities. \nClass structure: This class is designed as a demonstration so students can watch the entire process and ask questions before tackling the dishes at home.
