Join us for a free afternoon of Nordic workshops, performances, and jam sessions for young musicians at ASI. This is a chance for youth to learn new tunes with Minnesota musicians Clif Nesseth and Paul Sauey, 2025 American Scandinavian Foundation Fellows and co-founders of Ponyfolk. Fresh off their trip to Sweden this past July, Clif and Paul will share the music and traditions they learned at the annual Korrö Folk Music Festival. They’ll be working with Ingela Haaland of ASI’s Lillalag and other special guests to provide a rich afternoon of music-making and community building.
During the learning portion of the day, there will be two workshop tracks: one geared towards younger players (elementary/middle) and a second for more experienced students (high school). The afternoon will culminate in a “gig” at ASI’s FIKA Café, where workshop attendees will have an opportunity to perform new tunes, jam with the instructors, and help get some dancers on the floor!
Lunch for participants will be provided at noon.
