Take inspiration from tomte’s journey into the magical realm of ASI’s holiday exhibit Tomte Tales: Legends of Winter by creating this folkloric figure out of wool. The holiday season is known for tasty baked goods, and tomte loves treats. Felter Jen will lead kids and their adults through the process of shaping and decorating their tomte, along with an accompanying woolly treat, using the magical technique of needle felting. Using a needle to poke colorful wool into place is a fun and easy craft for all ages.

Students can choose to make a Lucia Bun (lussekatter or lussebullar) in honor of Santa Lucia Day, a swirly cinnamon bun, or a new creation from their imagination. Finish your tomte and treat with a string to make ornaments. Students will leave with a delighted tomte and a treat perfect for hanging on the tree, a doorknob, or anywhere needing festive cheer. Intergenerational program: Each registration is for one adult and child pair. This is an intergenerational program for a youth age 9-17 and an adult to attend together. To inquire about registering more than one youth per adult, or for other questions, please contact [email protected]. Skill level: Open to all skill levels. Ages: This program is for children ages 9-17 and adults. A $25 materials fee covers materials for two projects, one for the adult and one for the child.
