Try out wet felting while making a one-of-a-kind felted scarf! Students will work with fiber artist and expert felt maker Becky Utecht, who will guide the class through the process of wet felting a scarf (about 28” long) from wool, Tencel fabric, and silk in just one afternoon. Nuno felting is a beginner friendly technique, layering wool onto a fabric base and adhering the two layers through the action of wet felting, resulting in a soft, drapable fabric. A little soap, water, and agitation will pull all the fibers together, creating a lightweight scarf that will be dyed in class with whatever color each student chooses. A simple button closure will finish each scarf. This is an excellent and satisfying project for anyone new to felting, as well as for newer felters looking to expand their repertoire of skills.
