Celebrate International Women’s Day at ASI with a program of Nordic music and dance hosted by renowned Minnesota nyckelharpist Renee Vaughan. This special event will highlight the music and dance traditions pioneered by women who immigrated to the U.S. from the Nordic region. The women focused on in this program were fiddlers and bag pipe players from Sweden, a Norwegian hardingfele player, a Finnish accordion player, and more!

This program is using a “Pay What You Can” pricing model. See the information below about the price options.

Choosing Your Amount

  • $1: It is important for me and/or my child to attend this program yet paying a higher price will impact our household’s ability to pay rent/mortgage, buy food, clothes, or medicine, and/or otherwise meet our basic needs.
  • $5: This expense does not jeopardize my ability to meet my basic needs. Rather, this amount will cause me to weigh between this and other discretionary spending (such as eating out, other arts and culture activities, updating household items, etc.) as I choose how to spend my limited income.
  • $10: I am sufficiently financially secure to pay this amount. It does not impact my ability to meet basic needs nor significantly limit my activities and purchases. This amount represents the minimum price needed to support the American Swedish Institute’s costs to provide this program.
  • $20: I can pay this with relative ease. I have freedom when it comes to choosing how I spend my money. This tier not only covers the American Swedish Institute’s operating costs, it also helps to support other’s attendance to this program.
