Join artist Tia Keobounpheng for a film screening of her latest project, GIEĐAIN, followed by an artist talk. In 2025, Tia returned to her ancestral village in Swedish Sápmi with her two sons. They lived with their elder and relative for two weeks, learning from his seventy years of experience carving and crafting Sámi guksi and niibi. Their hands worked together to craft their own wooden cups and knives. GIEĐAIN speaks to the intrinsic knowing that was awakened in the process.
Made possible through a 2025 Folk Arts and Cultural Traditions grant from the American Scandinavian Foundation.
