Make a one-of-a-kind fused glass Christmas tree to brighten your home this holiday season while learning the art of glass fusing from local glass artist Susan. Students will choose a colorful glass base to decorate with small pieces of decorative glass noodles, stringer, frit, and glittery dichroic glass and mica to make an 8″ tall tree, perfect to show off on a mantle or table. Students will also design and decorate a 4″ tall tomte ornament on a red glass base, then finish it with a metal loop so it can hang on a large tree. The finished tree and tomte ornament will be heirloom decorations for future holidays, or treasured gifts for a friend or family member.

Student projects will be fused by your instructor in her studio kiln after class. The finished tree will be mounted in a custom-made hardwood stand, and the ornament will be adorned with ribbon for hanging on a tree. It will then be returned to ASI, where it can be picked up a few weeks later. Skill level: Open to all skill levels. No previous experience with glass work is necessary. Ages: Suitable for ages 18+. A $40 materials fee is payable to the instructor in class and covers all materials, tools and equipment. Finished projects will be returned to ASI for pick up a few weeks after class.
