In this afternoon-long workshop, students will learn cross-stitch techniques with a folk-art twist. Dive into this traditional art form with Scandinavian enthusiast and artist Cami. After a short introduction to Nordic folk art history, students will choose from several fanciful designs: a fox, a reindeer, or a bird. Students will learn to read a cross-stitch chart and work alongside the instructor to create their whimsical cross-stitch piece using sustainably sourced materials. Students will go home with a finished piece suitable for displaying or gifting and the skills to continue cross-stitch practice after class. Skill level: Open to all skill levels. No previous cross-stitch or sewing experience is necessary. Ages: Suitable for ages 14+. A $15 materials fee paid to the instructor in class covers all materials, patterns, and tool use. If they have them, students should bring thread scissors, and if needed, their own magnification (such as readers) for close work.
