Carve a Heart with Maeve Gathje

Try your hand at carving by making a sweet wooden heart decoration with carving instructor Maeve. This beginner-level course will introduce students to the tradition of Scandinavian-style flat plane carving, including basic knife grips and carving techniques. Related topics such as acquiring and preparing tools and materials will be covered throughout the class. The finished hearts will be perfect for display, gifting, or even making a statement necklace.

• A $10 materials fees is payable to the instructor in class.
• Physical ability: Woodcarving requires good hand strength and dexterity, for example being able to open a jam jar.
• Skill level: Open to all skill levels.
• Ages: Suitable for ages 16+, or ages 11-15 accompanied by a registered adult.
