SUMMARY:Watercolor Portraits Workshop with Tara Sweeney
DESCRIPTION:This class runs Fri\, Sept 18-Sun\, Sept 20\, 10 am-4 pm each day. \n\nPaint a glowing watercolor portrait in this three-day workshop with artist Tara Sweeney. Students will work from a photo reference to create a three-layer monochromatic value study and then a full color painting in a four-value\, hold-the-white approach to transparent watercolor. Students will build confidence as they explore split-primary color mixing\, wet-into-wet mingling\, transparent layering\, intentional edges\, and lively brushwork with playful warm up exercises\, expert support\, and individualized feedback. Following along with the instructor\, step-by-step\, students will develop foundational skills for painting watercolor portraits. \nAdditional information: \n\nAdvanced registration required.\nMaterials: This class works in tube watercolor paints\, not hard pan or travel palettes. Students provide their own materials for this class; click here to download the materials list.\n\n  \nPrerequisites:\n\nSkill level: This workshop welcomes students with some previous watercolor experience; most students will find it helpful to have previously worked with a three-layer value study and explored a split-primary palette.\nAges: Suitable for ages 18+.

SUMMARY:Intergenerational Nordic Handcraft Workshop: Willow Knots\, Toys\, and Baskets with Jake Fee
DESCRIPTION:Willow branches cut from the riverbanks of southern Minnesota can be used to make baskets\, decorative knots\, wooden caribeaners\, fasteners\, hoops\, dolls\, creatures\, and much more. In this workshop\, instructor Jake Fee will teach students to create and enjoy several of these small projects using responsibly-harvested local willow. \nAdditional information: \n\nThis class will plan to take place outside.
