Strand is Executive Director of the Nordic Center at UC Berkeley\, and the book stems from a Scandinavian corporate social responsibility course he launched two decades ago at the University of Minnesota. More info about how to choose your amount is available at checkout.\n\n  \nAbout the author \nDr. Robert Strand is the founding Executive Director of the Nordic Center at UC Berkeley\, Executive Director of the Center for Responsible Business\, and a Lecturer at the Berkeley Haas School of Business. He is also an Associate Professor at the Copenhagen Business School. His research and teaching focus on comparing U.S. and Nordic approaches to sustainable business and examining American and Nordic varieties of capitalism with the aim of contributing to realizing sustainable capitalism. Robert teaches the suite of courses “Sustainable Capitalism in the Nordics?” which leverage his book Nordic Capitalism: Lessons for Realizing Sustainability Capitalism (Cambridge University Press\, 2026)\, available to read open access (free) at https://bit.ly/3MSvrOp. \nBefore joining Berkeley Haas in 2014\, Robert was an Assistant Professor at the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark\, following a decade in Corporate America\, where he held various roles in manufacturing\, supply chain\, marketing\, strategy\, and investor relations at IBM and Boston Scientific. He holds a Ph.D. in corporate social responsibility from the Copenhagen Business School\, an MBA in international business from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management\, and a B.S. in industrial engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar to Norway hosted at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). \nWith his wife\, Sarah\, he is the proud parent of two wonderful children\, Jonas and Mikkel. He values a good sense of humor and kindness above all else\, and when that obituary is eventually written\, Robert hopes those qualities could potentially be said about him.

SUMMARY:Intro to Floral Centerpieces Workshop with Elle Sullivan
DESCRIPTION:Design your own summer floral centerpiece in this beginner-friendly class! Join Elle\, farmer-florist at Mellifera Flowers\, to learn the technical and artistic basics of floral design\, and in the process create your own unique centerpiece with local blooms from her farm and other local growers. After learning some color theory basics and design principles\, students will dive into the “flower buffet\,” selecting ingredients that speak to them. From snapdragons to zinnias\, grasses to sunflowers\, the available seasonal blooms will guide the design\, with artistic encouragement and technical advice from Elle along the way. No previous floral experience is necessary—in fact\, you may find a new interest sparked! With the tips and tricks offered in this workshop\, students will be able to elevate your farmers’ market\, backyard garden\, and grocery store bouquets into unique\, organic arrangements. This workshop is perfect for gardeners looking to better showcase their blooms\, creatives looking for new mediums of expression\, or anyone craving more play and self-expression in their life. \nAdditional information: \n\nA $45 materials fee is due in class to the instructor and covers a vase\, reusable floral mechanics\, and an array of local flowers.\nThis workshop is suitable for students ages 18+.\nNo previous experience is necessary.\nAdvanced registration required.
