Workshop: Viking Posament Bracelets

This class runs Friday, April 14, from 5-6:30 pm and Saturday, April 15, from 9 am-4 pm.

Learn how to make an elegant posament bracelet out of pewter thread and leather, inspired by Viking-era artifacts. Freehand braided or knotted wire posaments decorated and trimmed Viking textiles; this class will complete a bracelet based on designs of embellishments found in 9th and 10th century burial sites. The first evening, students will practice creating either a “Josephine” or triangular series of braided knots on nylon cord. Then in the morning, students progress to constructing a length of knots with coiled pewter thread, which will be sewn onto a softened leather strip to fashion a bracelet finished with a pewter button. All materials are provided; students pay a $125 materials fee to the instructor, Liz Bucheit.
