Workshop: Swedish Embroidered Applique Sampler

Recreate a traditional Swedish applique design while learning about textile embellishment techniques from folk artist Natalie Norman. Students will work on a wool felt sampler from a pattern inspired by a design used on an 18th century Swedish mitten. Techniques for up to 7 embroidery stitches will be shared, including the blanket, running, star, feather, grid, French knot and daisy stitches. Students will leave with a textile that can be finished for use as a small pillow or purse. A $10 materials fee covers all necessary materials and tools. This class welcomes all skill levels and is suitable for ages 16+.
