Wool Embroidered Sheepskin Headband

This class runs for three Fridays, October 24, 31, and November 7, from 2-4 pm each session.

Explore Scandinavian-style wool-on-wool embroidery while creating a cozy sheepskin headband. Learn a variety of embroidery stitches with hand-dyed wool yarns from the instructor’s sheep on upcycled, washed wool fabric. Then stitch the decorative wool embroidery onto a shearling sheepskin pelt to create a comfy custom-fit headband perfect for winter! The leather is also from the instructor’s farm’s sheep and is naturally bark-tanned at a local Wisconsin tannery. Led by textile artist Laura Berlage, jump into this interdisciplinary experience of all things sheep and create a wearable piece of art to keep warm all winter!

Prerequisites:

Skill level: Open to all skill levels, though previous wool embroidery experience is helpful.

Ages: Suitable for ages 16+.
