Willow Basketry Basics

This class meets on Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 1212 from 9 am-5 pm each day.

Explore European stake and strand willow basketry over two days! This traditional method is centuries old and begins with creating a round base. Instructors Bozena Scheidel and Bailey Kroll will lead students in preparing a simple 3″ x 3″ round base, then weaving upwards. This style lends itself to including various patterns, borders, or even a handle. Students will leave with a finished basket and the knowledge of how to start and complete a basket on their own! Willow harvesting, sorting, grading, and preparation will be covered as time permits.
