Explore pattern and batik technique in this class for beginners with watercolor artist Kim Gordon. Indonesian artists developed batik as a way to create patterned fabric. It traditionally uses fabric and dye, but the class will use rice paper and watercolor, approachable materials that are easy to work with, to create beautiful patterns and textures. Finished batiked paper can be used in cards, collages, book arts, and as original works of art.
Skill level: Open to all skill levels.
Ages: Suitable for ages 16+.
A $10 materials fee covers all materials and is due to the instructor in class. Feel free to bring an apron and note taking materials.
