In this half day class, students will decorate a needle case with wool and embroidery floss hand dyed by textile artist Theresa Hornstein. Students will practice basic embroidery stitches and crewel work while learning a little about the history of both naturally dyed colors and embroidery in Scandinavia. This beginner level class will send students home with the tools, knowledge, and inspiration to continue their embroidery journey.
A $15 materials fee is due to the instructor and covers all materials. Students interested in a hands on opportunity to work with natural dyes may be interested in the Dye Like a Viking workshop the day before. Suitable for students ages 14 and up.
