Swedish Literature: Sweden and the Welfare State with Gunn Edberg-Caldwell

Explore Swedish literature this summer with instructor and literature lover Gunn Edberg-Caldwell. Over four weeks, this class will discuss the novel Sveas son: En berättelse om folkhemmet (Son of Svea: A Tale of the People’s Home) by Lena Andersson. Through the life of the main character, Ragnar Johansson, gain insight into social democracy and the welfare state in Sweden. Books can be read in Swedish or English, and class discussions are in English. The books are unavailable in the ASI Shop but can be found at the library or online.
