Starting with Slöjd: Woven Butterfly Takkrona (Mobiles)

Starting with Slöjd is a monthly program for early elementary students who want to start crafting! Whether it’s playing with wool, wire, paper, or more, this group will explore new tools, materials, and skills that prepare kids for a lifelong love of slöjd (handcraft). ASI designed these drop-off programs for students in grades K-2.

Instructor Anna Ruhland will teach students how to make butterflies using yarn, popsicle sticks, and pipe cleaners. Students will then attach their butterflies to sticks to create a hanging mobile that excites them for summer.

This class will take place outside—rain or shine. Students must wear clothing appropriate for outdoor play and messy art projects. Please make sure that your young maker brings sun protection, a water bottle, and rain gear (if necessary).
