Starting with Slöjd: Introduction to Woodcarving with Ingrid Aune

Starting with Slöjd is a monthly program for early elementary students who want to start handcraft! Whether we’re playing with wool, wire, paper, or more, we’ll explore new tools, materials, and skills that prepare kids for a lifelong love of slöjd (handcraft). ASI designed this program for students in grades K-2. Since this month’s class will involve knives, adults may stay with the students instead of dropping them off. Note: all guardians must sign a waiver at ASI before the class starts. Museum admission is not included.

Join our exciting woodcarving class with Ingrid and learn the foundations of this traditional handcraft. In this introductory course, students will focus on knife safety and practice different knife holds. This class emphasizes learning the woodcarving process over completing a project, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the art of woodcarving.
