Slöjd Studio: Weaving in Nature

Slöjd Studio is a montly program for children in grades 3-5. Participants will practice slöjd skills and explore new tools as they continue to nurture their lifelong love of handcraft. Although this drop-off program was designed as a continuation of Starting with Slöjd, participation in that program is not a prerequisite.

Inspired by the exhibition, Karin Larsson: Let the Hand be Seen, students will create a woven textile outside. Instructor Anna Ruhland will introduce students to the art of tapestry weaving. Young makers will have an opportunity to use both handcraft and materials found in nature to create a large colorful piece of art.

This class will take place outside – rain or shine. Students must wear clothing appropriate for outdoor play and messy art projects. Please make sure that your young maker brings sun protection, a water bottle, and rain gear (if necessary).
