Slöjd Studio: Felted Midsommar Crowns

Slöjd Studio is a monthly program for young makers (grades 3-5). Participants will practice slöjd techniques and explore new tools as they continue to nurture their lifelong love of handcraft. Although ASI educators designed this drop-off program to be a continuation of Starting with Slöjd, previous participation in that program is not a prerequisite.

Get into the Midsommar spirit by creating felted flower crowns! Instructor Anna Ruhland will teach students how to needle felt flowers and Midsommar motifs onto felt fabric base crowns worn during Sweden’s celebration of the longest day of the year.

This class will take place outside—rain or shine. Students must wear clothing appropriate for outdoor play and messy art projects. Please make sure that your young maker brings sun protection, a water bottle, and rain gear (if necessary).
