Sámi Herbals for the Eight Seasons

The Sámi peoples (also spelled Saami and Sáme) are Indigenous people of Sweden (as well as Norway, Finland, and Russia). In this 2-hour class, students will learn about the eight seasons of the Sámi calendar and the plants that accompany these seasons, used for both food and medicine. Participants will also get a chance to make their own herbal remedy to support the changing of the season. Herbal remedies are guided by award-winning herbalist Gigi Stafne MH, ND and Northern Sámi language support is provided by Dr. Áila O’Loughlin. A $15 materials fee is due to the instructor and covers all materials.
