Printing on Fabric

This class runs over four Tuesdays, 10 am-12:30 pm each session.

Explore the creativity of carving your own print blocks to create details and repeating designs on fabric! Over this four-week session, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of carving and printing with single and multi-part print blocks while exploring the possibilities for fabric design. Printed fabric can be easily finished into table linens, pillows or accessories, but also can be a fun embellishment for patchwork or details on a variety of sewn objects. Taking inspiration from Scandinavian designers and stylized botanicals, students will finish several print blocks and test print several small projects over the first few sessions. The final project will be printing a piece of yardage suitable for finishing as a table runner or cutting up for other textile projects.

Students provide their own tools (see list here); the materials fee covers other materials, including print blocks, ink, and fabric.
