Preschool Program: Getting Ready for Jul

What is Jul? How do families in Sweden celebrate the Jul season? Preschoolers their favorite grownups are invited to discover the answers together while exploring the magical Turnblad Mansion and learning new Swedish words.

Teaching artist, Jen Newburg joins ASI Youth & Family Programs Manager, Lindsey Tscherne, to lead activities designed just for little ones and their grown ups. Preschoolers get to make a special needle felted ornament with Jen Newburg, perfect for decorating their tree at home as they prepare for Jul. After the program, preschoolers and their important adults are encouraged to visit the exhibition, Tomte Tales, where they can learn more about the stories and traditions behind a Swedish Jul season. This is a wonderful opportunity for preschoolers to create memories, try new things, and get excited about holiday traditions the Swedish way.

Explore Swedish and Swedish American culture with your little one in these programs specifically designed for children ages 3–5 and their favorite grown-ups. Adult accompaniment is required, and advance registration is necessary for all preschool programs, with a limit of one adult per child.
