Pewter Thread Braid Exploration

This class runs Saturday, October 21 from 10 am–5 pm and Sunday, October 22 from 9 am–noon.

Take a true deep dive into the exciting techniques of working with pewter thread and the possibilities it opens! In this workshop, students of all levels will explore a variety of braiding techniques using pewter thread, an old embellishment material known as tenntråd in Swedish. Students will start up to four single braids or two wide ones in this class, with the option to incorporate in beads, silk cord, and leather strips. These braids can be used for bracelets or other projects, so students are encouraged to start several but won’t necessarily finish them in class.

Students will pay for their materials at the end of class depending on the projects chosen, approximately $150. Students are encouraged to bring note-taking materials, readers or magnification glasses, and their favorite sewing scissors and/or thimbles if desired.

All skill levels are welcome and will be successful in this class. Please note that good hand strength, eyesight (with the use of magnification such as readers if necessary), and the ability to sit for long periods are required. Previous sewing or braiding knowledge is helpful but not required. Suitable for ages 18+.
