Lecture and Workshop: Northern Nature Photography with Erika Skogg

Join photographer & National Geographic Explorer Erika Skogg to learn about her approach to photography on site at ASI. In the morning, Erika will give a 90-minute presentation of images from her photographic series Scandinavian American, which highlights the Nordic-American culture and community. Selects from this series will be on display at ASI this holiday season in the Northern Nature exhibit. A smaller group will then join Erika for a hands-on photography tutorial and critique through the afternoon. Students will begin by shooting around ASI’s historic Turnblad Mansion and the modern Nelson Cultural Center on our Minneapolis campus. After a lunch break, students will gather and share photos, tips and learning.

Students should provide their own camera (smartphone welcome) and are encouraged to bring a laptop that they can download their photos to show during the afternoon session.
