Try out the art of woodcut printmaking in this one-day class! Woodcut prints are one of the oldest forms of printmaking and can capture a range of styles. Students will work alongside artist Nan Onkka to carve and print their own design – a perfect introduction for novice print makers or reintroduction for anyone who is returning to this craft. Students will choose an image or sketch before class, then learn how to prepare a wood block, carve their image, and print multiple copies of a single-color design. Suitable for ages 18+ or 16–17 accompanied by an adult.

A $50 materials fee covers all materials and tools; students are invited to bring their own carving tools if they have them. Students should select one or more images or bring a sketch of an idea for printing before class and will take home their finished print block as well as multiple copies of their print.
