Try out spoon carving in this afternoon-long intro class! Instructor Jess Hirsch will lead students through the process of carving a spoon using a prepared wooden blank and traditional hand carving tools. Jess will walk students through the steps she took before class to select a tree and to cut and prepare the fresh wood for carving. Then, together, students will go through safe knife holds and the steps to carve their very own cooking spoon! The class will wrap up with a discussion of finishing techniques and care.

This class is for women and non-binary students comfortable with a femme approach to learning. Students need moderate hand strength and flexibility to participate. Suitable for ages 16+.

All tools and materials are provided; students pay the instructor a $20 materials fee.
