Intergenerational Carving Facial Expressions

Join carver Jock Holmen to try out some figure carving basics! Faces can be the trickiest part of a traditional Scandinavian figure but also one of the most fun parts. This afternoon class will offer the opportunity to carve all kinds of expressions! Students will learn knife safety basics, then uncover mouths, noses and eyes in a simple piece of wood. This is great fun for anyone who has started carving, as well as young and old folks who are new to figure carving and want to try it out for an afternoon. Each spot is for one youth ages 11-17 and an accompanying adult.

All tools and materials are provided, although you are welcome to bring your own carving knife (a Flexcut #13 or similar) and glove if you have one.
