Favorite Tools in Watercolor

This class has been canceled.

This class runs Wednesday and Thursday, October 4–5, 10 am–5 pm both days.

What stories do our favorite tools tell about who we are, what we do, and the people we love? Open your cupboards, rifle through those drawers, and pull down your favorite tools!

Practice the foundations of drawing with ink and painting with watercolor by exploring the colors, patterns, and shapes of favorite tools from observation and imagination in this two-day class with Tara Sweeney. Using props brought from home and inspiration from ASI’s exhibition Leaving Your Mark: Stories in Wood, explore the colors, patterns, and shapes of favorite tools (both observed and imaginary). Students will create original artwork to take home.

This class format combines step-by-step tutorials, class sharing, creative prompts, and individualized feedback and is suitable for all levels of experience. No prior drawing or painting experience is needed!

Students provide their own tools and materials; please see the materials list here.
