Culture & Conversation Series: Shining A Light Into The Past Through Runic Studies

Loraine Jensen, founder and president of the American Association for Runic Studies (AARS), has dedicated years to promoting the responsible, scientific study of runes and runic inscriptions, in collaboration with Uppsala University’s Department of Scandinavian Languages. In recognition of her efforts, Ms. Jensen was recently awarded the pedagogical prize from The Royal Gustavus Adolphus Academy for Swedish Folk Culture. During this presentation, she will describe her recent Fulbright Specialist project in Sweden and ongoing efforts to raise public awareness of these ancient guide lights into Scandinavian culture.
